Title Research: (Thriller) Godzilla: Final Wars

  1. How many titles are displayed during the opening scenes to the film?
In the opening sequence video I watched there was a total of 40 titles that were shown in the Godzilla: Final Wars movie on the website Watch the Titles.

     2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?

The main images prioritized in the opening sequence was the main events from the movie showing this Godzilla monster attacking a town with fearful people running away from it. The other main image were the dates which was in a large, blood red font to evoke the Thriller sense in the movie.

3.What connotations do the images carry?

The images create a negative connotation and feeling that something bad or deadly was going to happen by showing Godzilla attacking the people and the color red being symbolic in the whole opening sequence which creates a feeling that it might be the people's blood.

      4. How is the genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?

The ending creates a sense of suspense or mystery by zooming in on Godzilla who is apparently stuck or frozen in a huge ice cap. The whole opening sequence showing buildings destroyed, people running away, and the dark low-key lighting add to a thriller sense and the genre of Thriller and Mystery is reinforced through the opening sequence.

       5. How does the film establish an enigma from the outset?

The film establishes an enigma by leaving us wondering how Godzilla this giant monster came to be and wonder how this monster is alive after being frozen up for so long.

      6. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?

The Godzilla: Final Wars movie uses dates throughout the entire opening sequence to attract to an audience that prefers movies in an order or set time period. The movie also attracts audiences that look up to monsters and different creatures and prefer a sci-fi type of movie without it actually being a sci-fi film.

The image also carries the connotations of evil and monster and how people as humans can be infected something like greed or money and money and become evil. The overall connotations that are carried are what the movie is going to be about.

4. How is the genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset
-The genre is reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the beginning because the opening sequences use common elements that are common in thriller movies. To further explain the opening sequence uses dark images and red lettering to symbolize evil and death. Which happens in most openings in thriller movies. The technical codes reinforce the genre in the way that symbolic does. An example of this the camera angle at are fast pace which is common with thriller movies.

5. How does the film establish an enigma from the outset?
    - The film establish enigma from the beginning by make all the titles appear and disappear fast so a viewer doesn't have time to sit and think about. This builds up the mystery and makes the viewer to want to keep watching. The film also does this by showing pictures of a man turning into a monster which is uncommon making the film seem more enigmatic.

6. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience.
    - The strategies that were used as the choice of music. The music was a song that a younger generation would be more likely to use. Title Research: Watch the Titles

Today my partner and I visited another website. The reason why we visited another website is to increase our knowledge of titles. The website that my partner and I researches were " Watch The Titles". This website was very informative on teachings that we did not previously learn. During this website, we learned the reason for the titles and why it is always at the front of the movie. The reason for that is to give credit to the most important people that created the movie. This idea would include directors, actors, editor and more. Another reason why I titles exist is to give viewers an inference on what the movie is going to be about. The is the reason for titles is the most common reason for titles among all the genres. While going through the website I was impressed how much thought goes into making titles. I also realize how important titles are for every other type of entertainment aside from movies. While studying this website I saw how everything is a calculated step to draw in viewers. I also learned from this website that careers a cam to be made from making titles. All in all throughout studying and learning titles through these websites have been beneficial. To further explain viewing these titles gave me insight on how I should structure my final paragraph. Learning about these titles will ensure that I will produce an accurate representation of what an actual movie looks like.

Title Research: Art of the Title

Today my partner and I started on are quest to know more about the titles that are shown at the beginning of every movie. The reason why we are searching these titles is to find a way to structure our final project. Due to the fact the our project is mainly focused on the first two minutes it is important that we have a title. The titles are the main focus of the beginning. The titles also give the views a idea about what the movie is going to be. What my partner and I learned from this website is that every way that a title is structured has a purpose. The creators of the movie use the titles as a way to give out clues about the movie like previously mentioned. An example of this is in horror movies the titles are usually in red to imitate blood. Another example is in thriller movies the titles would be bold letters. The reason for this is to symbolize the important aspects that will be part of the movie. All in All what I leaned from this is two things while visiting this website. The important symbolism behind movies and how that relates to the genre of your movie. a second thing that I learn while visiting this website is how important titles are for movies.  Using this is mind I believe my partner and I will complete titles that will relate to our genre. The reason is to help symbolize the message behind what me and my partner is trying to say.

  • Costume: Dwayne Johnson in the movie is always seen wearing a grey t-shirt and black/grey jeans while his co-star Jason Statham was seen always wearing formal attire to accommodate his characters reputation of a wealthy man. Both of the outfits allow for both to fight easily and move accordingly. She is seen wearing a green turtle neck, black jeans, and boots later in the movie. Brixton (Idris Elba) the main villain is seen wearing a black armor throughout the entire movie.
  • Lighting: Most of the low-key lighting of the film was gloomy or dark to indicate all the dangers and fighting that has to happen. At the end of the movie when all of the fighting is done and the main villain Brixton (Idris Elba) has finally died the lighting become bright to show the true final ending when everything is back to normal.
  • Actors: Dwayne Johnson is a physically strong character in the movie as well as intelligent. Jason Statham is also a strong character not in the sense of muscles but in the strategic mindset to defeat Brixton the main villain who is basically a cyborg that can detect their movements before they can even start fighting. He is also very intelligent and loves to argue a lot with his partner Hobbs in the movie which provides a comedic break from all the serious fighting matters. Hattie (Vanessa Kirby) plays the younger sister of Shaw (Jason Statham) and is the living virus because she implanted the virus into herself from the beginning of the movie.
  • Make-up: Most of the make-up in the movie went into the wounds after fighting scenes, blood, and the main female actress Vanessa Kirby and for all of the other side female characters that played a small role in the movie.
